Could you please point out the standard that relates to spill kits in an aged care setting?

There are no express standards for spills in Australia. However, the following standards deal with spills:

  1. Australian Standard AS/NZS 3816:1998: Management of Clinical and Related Wastes;
  2. Australian Standard AS 1940B1993: The Storage and Handling of Flammable and Combustible Liquids;
  3. Australian Standard AS 4452B1997: The Storage and Handling of Toxic Substances; and
  4. Australian Standard AS 1319-1994: Safety signs for the occupational environment.
