Q
Is there a requirement to have safety showers serviced twice per year in a standard?

We check the functionality of our eyewash stations and safety showers monthly, but have had them serviced every six months.

We don’t know if servicing every six months was implemented because of a standard that we have to adhere to, otherwise we would like to have them serviced annually.

A
There is an Australian Standard which provides guidance on the servicing of eyewash and shower stations: Australian Standard AS 4775-2007 ‘Emergency eyewash and shower equipment’.

For your reference, the current AS 4775-2007 can be purchased here: https://infostore.saiglobal.com/en-au/Standards/AS-4775-2007-121534_SAIG_AS_AS_255033/
