Q
Our employees are required to occasionally travel to a different office 50km away.

It is more convenient to take a car home and drive directly from home to the other office the next day.

By doing this are they still covered by workers’ compensation if they have an accident?

We are based in South Australia.

A
In South Australia, employers are generally liable for any injuries incurred by an employee during travel arising out of their employment.

This does not include general travel to and from the employee’s standard place of work, but would occur, for example, where the travel has been requested by the employer or there is a substantial connection between the travel and employment.
