WorkSafe ACT accepts first enforceable undertaking in 6 years
Case
In January 2023, Demolition Environmental Civil Contractors Pty Ltd (DECC) was working at the Canberra Centre car park. In demolishing concrete hobs, three metal façade panels became dislodged from the structure and fell near members of the public. No one was injured in the incident.
WorkSafe ACT investigated the incident before commencing proceedings against DECC. The company was charged with an offence under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (ACT) for failing to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that the health and safety of persons was not put at risk from the work being carried out.
