Inspectors find sky-high risks for workers installing solar panels

The Case

WorkSafe VIC v P.R.E Solar Pty Ltd t/as Zenith Solar (2022)

Zenith Solar employed three electrical apprentices and two qualified electricians to install solar panels on the roof of a home. During the installation, a WorkSafe inspector found two employees working on a roof that was 2.5 metres high with no adequate fall protection in place. Due to the immediate risk to their safety, the workers were directed to cease works immediately.

Inspectors also observed that a perimeter guard rail did not adequately guard the roof area or provide a safe means of access and egress to and from the roof.
